Today (19th), Qualcomm, a major US chip manufacturer, held a keynote speech at COMPUTEX 2025. CEO Cristiano Amon announced that it would enter the data center. The specific product roadmap has not yet been announced. However, he believes that with Qualcomm's recent announcement of cooperation with Saudi Arabia's new AI company Humain and NVIDIA's announcement as a member of the ecosystem, Qualcomm has two key capabilities, namely disruptive CPU architecture and flexibility, that is, Qualcomm's DNA is high-performance, very low-power computing.

Talking about cooperation with Taiwan's supply chain, Amon said that TSMC has always been our main manufacturing partner, and Qualcomm has always been a major customer of TSMC, shipping about 40 billion chips each year. In addition, Taiwan's PC ecosystem is very strong. As Qualcomm enters the PC field, the PC ecosystem cooperation with Taiwan is also growing rapidly. It is currently busy expanding the Taiwan team and will continue to deepen its layout in Taiwan.

As for Xiaomi's self-developed chips, Amon emphasized that it currently has a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Xiaomi, and its flagship phones continue to use Qualcomm technology. In fact, it is not uncommon for different brands to develop their own chips, such as Samsung, and Qualcomm is still the main supplier of Xiaomi's flagship phones, and this will not change in the future.

Speaking of PC market share, Amon expects the market share to reach 12% in 2029 and bring in $4 billion in revenue. Qualcomm currently has a 10% penetration rate in the US consumer market and has recently expanded to the top five markets in Europe, with the European market accounting for about 9%.

Since Qualcomm has relevant layouts in many fields such as mobile phone chips, AI PCs, automotive, and networking, when asked whether it will enter the field of robots, Amon responded that robots are similar to cars. They are both unplugged, high-performance and low-power mobile devices. Their importance is no less than what Qualcomm has done in the automotive field. The company has currently cooperated with many companies and is expected to become Qualcomm's next growth area.

Amon believes that Qualcomm's advantage lies in its ability to quickly expand IP, such as Oryon CPU, which was first deployed on Snapdragon X, then on Snapdragon X and Snapdragon 8 Elite, and then expanded to platforms such as Snapdragon Ride and Snapdragon Cockpit Elite for cars, and there will be a data center version next.

In this keynote speech, Amon mentioned that Qualcomm will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and demonstrated the specific application of AI agents. He also conducted an online Q&A interaction with AI for the first time in his speech. Finally, at the end of the speech, Amon also announced that this year's Snapdragon Summit 2025 will be held from September 23 to September 25, about a month earlier than in previous years.
